Beethoven

Today I learned some new things about Beethoven after reading an essay my friend wrote about him.

Ludwig van Beethoven was a piano composer who wrote Moonlight Sonata and a lot of other concertos. The most interesting part about the essay to me was that Beethoven’s father — who was known to be a harsh instructor — woke Beethoven up in the middle of the night to practice piano. That is very crazy! I used to play the piano, but my parents never work me up in the middle of the night to play it. I did learn the first stanza of Moonlight Sonata, though.

I also learned that in 1802, Beethoven started to loose his hearing, and completely lost it in 1814. Even though Beethoven lost his hearing, he still was able to compose music, because he memorized the sound of every key. That was also very interesting to me.
