Learning new words


      Today after doing vocabulary I learned four new words:

Elude
To escape by being quick or clever.
My sentence: She eluded the dog by closing the gate.

Moor
1. To hold in place with ropes or anchors.
2. A place to which a boat or aircraft can be moored.
My sentence: The boat was moored in with ropes.

Plummet
To fall suddenly toward the earth or to a lower level; to plunge.
My sentence: She was about to fall off the cliff and plummet towards the ground.

Swivel
1. A fastening that allows any part joined to swing freely.
2. To turn freely around a fixed point.
My sentence: The chair was able to swivel and spin around freely.
